Como Champions League ambitions spark Kean contact
Como have reached out to Moise Kean’s representatives to gauge the Italian striker’s willingness to join their squad for the Champions League, Sky Sport Italia reports, noting the club has not yet officially spoken to any current side Fiorentina.
The Lariani, who were competing in Serie B just two years ago, are now preparing for their first ever Champions League campaign. Their rapid rise underscores the club’s recent transformation.
Como’s squad contains few Italian players, creating fresh problems as additional signings will be needed to satisfy UEFA homegrown quotas. The shortage could force the club to look beyond domestic talent to meet the regulations.
Transfer expert Gianluca Di Marzio says representatives from Como have been in contact with Kean’s entourage, marking the first step before any approach to Fiorentina about a possible summer sale. Di Marzio’s comments suggest the club is testing interest before formal negotiations.
Kean is under contract with Fiorentina at the Stadio Artemio Franchi until June 2029, and his €62 million release clause only applies outside Italy between 1 July and 15 July, making it irrelevant for a direct Como offer. Thus any move would require a negotiated transfer rather than activation of the clause.
The 26‑year‑old has scored 13 goals in 26 senior caps for Italy and has expressed a strong desire to play Champions League football. His international record adds appeal to a club eager for European competition.
In a Serie A clash on 14 February 2026 at the Giuseppe Sinigaglia Stadium in Como, Kean of ACF Fiorentina was challenged by Maximo Perrone of Como 1907, an incident captured by photographer Marco Luzzani. Earlier, on 4 January 2026, Kean celebrated a goal for Fiorentina against US Cremonese at the Artemio Franchi Stadium in Florence, as shown in a photo by Gabriele Maltinti.
If the initial contact proves positive, Como will likely initiate formal talks with Fiorentina in the summer to secure the striker for their historic Champions League run. Such a deal would also help address the club’s homegrown quota challenges.
