Colombia ready to challenge Italy for bronze at the Under-20 World Cup

Colombia will face Italy in the third‑place final of the Under‑20 Women’s World Cup, taking place in Poland, after the South Americans lost 3‑0 to North Korea in the semi‑final. The Asian side, champions of the edition two years ago, dominated with goals from Pak Ok I, Choe Rim Jong and So Ryu Gyong.

South American semi‑final defeat

The South Americans, Colombia, suffered a semi‑final defeat against North Korea, one of the top favourites for the final title. The match ended with a clear 3‑0 scoreline.

The Italian Under‑20 team, led by Marco Matteucci, was knocked out of the semi‑final group with a 2‑0 loss to Spain, another favourite for the win. Spain, listed as Sar, displayed a solid performance.

On Saturday afternoon in Łódź, at 18:00, the Italian “azzurrine” will face Colombia for third place in the Under‑20 Women’s World Cup. The broadcast will be live on RaiSport.

For Italy, this is the first ever chance to contest the bronze in this competition, while Colombia returns to fight for third place after sixteen years since their last appearance. The match represents a historic opportunity for both national teams.

The final match for the title will be played again in Łódź the following Sunday at 18:00, with Spain and North Korea contesting the trophy. An Instagram post from FIFA Women’s World Cup highlighted the event.

The contrast between Italy’s first experience and Colombia’s return highlights the growth of youth women’s football worldwide.
