Club Brugge's €9 million bid for AZ midfielder sparks Belgian interest
Club Brugge have tabled a €9 million offer, supplemented by €2 million in bonuses, for AZ midfielder Peer Koopmeiners, according to reports published today. The 26‑year‑old Belgian‑eligible player is reportedly open to a move to Belgium, and the bid is now under review by AZ.
De and transfer journalist Mounir Boualin disclosed the details of the proposal. Both outlets confirm the €9 million base fee and the additional €2 million in performance‑related bonuses.
Koopmeiners, 26, has indicated his willingness to join a Belgian side. His contract with AZ runs until mid‑2028, and Transfermarkt values him at €12 million.
AZ, however, have set a higher price tag, aiming for €17 million for the midfielder. The club signalled that Club Brugge would need to increase their offer to meet that figure.
The player progressed through AZ’s youth academy, where he experienced two loan spells during his development. He also featured for Excelsior and Almere City before establishing himself at AZ.
In total, Koopmeiners has made 117 appearances for the Alkmaar side, contributing six goals and eleven assists.
The €9 million plus €2 million bonus package is currently being evaluated by AZ’s management.
