Club Brugge locks up prodigy Tian Nai Koren until 2029
Club Brugge entered the 2023‑24 season as Belgian champions, having built a particularly solid core. The club anticipates the departure of several senior players this summer and is therefore turning to its academy for reinforcements.
The club announced that midfielder Tian Nai Koren has signed a new deal running until 30 June 2029 and will be incorporated into the senior A‑squad. The extension secures the 16‑year‑old until he is 22.
Koren arrived from NK Maribor in the summer before and featured in 22 Challenger Pro League matches last season, scoring once and providing two assists. His performances earned him a regular place in the youth set‑up.
He also started every game for Club Brugge’s Youth League campaign until the final, highlighting his rapid progression. The tournament exposure has been a key factor in his development.
On 4 June, Koren made his debut for the Slovenian senior national team in a friendly against Cyprus, becoming the youngest player ever to represent Slovenia. He remained on the bench three days later for a match against Croatia, which featured Luka Modric.
Transfermarkt currently values Koren at more than one million euros, despite him not turning 17 until 31 July. The valuation reflects his growing reputation within the club.
In the coming weeks Club Brugge must resolve the situation of Jesse Bisiwu, who is linked with Barcelona but has not yet renewed his contract. The club views Bisiwu as one of its top prospects and aims to retain him.
