The club’s board, led by chairman Bart Verhaeghe, signalled no intention to sell despite interest from Manchester United, Barcelona and Turkish suitors.

Interest from Europe’s elite

During the transfer‑heavy period at Jan Breydel, several clubs approached the blue‑black side. AS Roma offered €35 million but were turned down, while Manchester United and Barcelona later emerged as potential buyers. A Turkish club also expressed desire, adding to the list of suitors.

“There was interest from several clubs, also from top clubs in Europe. A departure was close, but ultimately something was not right,” Tresoldi told the German press during the international break.
