Club Bruges rely on Forbs and Spileers to take on Inter at San Siro

Club Brugge will face Inter Milan tonight at 21:00 at the San Siro, second matchday of the Champions League, with Carlos Forbs and Jorne Spileers in the starting eleven.

Match context

The Belgians come after a 3-2 defeat to Aston Villa on matchday one, while Inter were beaten 2-1 by Real Madrid. Both teams are therefore looking for their first points in the group.

Team line-ups

Inter retain their 3-5-2 system with Lautaro Martínez, Marcus Thuram and the return of Bastoni, Barella, Zielinski and Akanji in the starting eleven. Club Brugge, under the direction of Ivan Leko, line up an XI: Sommer; Sabbe, Spileers, Mechele, Seys; Potts, Vetlesen, Vanaken; Forbs, Virgili, Tresoldi.

The Croatian manager confirmed that Forbs, initially uncertain, was included from the kickoff, while Spileers was preferred over Lee in central defence.

Comments from Ivan Leko

"We know very well who we are going to face. They are one of the best teams in Europe," Leko said at the press conference, highlighting the superiority of Inter's 3-5-2 system for the past five or six years.

He added that Brugge will need to show "courage and intelligence", hoping to exploit the Italian weaknesses. "If we can play with the same mastery as in Belgium, we will be satisfied," he concluded.

Regarding Forbs' fitness, Leko specified that the young striker, who left La Louvière (1-4) injured on Saturday, took part in a training session yesterday and did not feel any significant reaction. He hopes that Forbs will be fit for the match.

The coach recalled the strong second half against Aston Villa, stating that if Brugge continues this momentum and gets a bit of luck, they can come back with a positive result.
