City’s €100m gamble on Palmeiras star Allan amid Savinho exit

City’s €100m gamble on Palmeiras star Allan amid Savinho exit

Manchester City have signalled their intention to trigger the €100 million release clause – roughly R$ 602.7 million – to bring 22‑year‑old Allan from Palmeiras, after the club’s pending sale of Savinho to Tottenham has left a vacancy on the right flank in the Premier League squad.

City's search for a winger

With Savinho's imminent move to Tottenham, Manchester City are actively scouting a right‑wing replacement. The English club, known as the Citizens, have identified Allan as their primary target. The need is heightened by the limited options on the flanks, as Phil Foden and Rayan Cherki are more central midfielders and Jack Grealish’s future remains uncertain.

Allan, a left‑footed attacking midfielder under Abel Ferreira at Palmeiras, can operate on either wing but prefers the right side. He leads the Brazilian league in successful dribbles with 33 in 20 matches and ranks third in the Libertadores with 10 in eight games. His 11 goal involvements in 41 appearances this season, plus 15 pre‑shot passes in the Libertadores, underline his creative impact.

Palmeiras, often called Verdão, are reluctant to lose the 22‑year‑old due to his importance in the Brasileirão, Libertadores and Copa do Brasil campaigns. Nevertheless, Allan has already agreed personal terms with the English side, as reported by journalist Fabrizio Romano. The club’s board is preparing a hard negotiation to secure his release before the end of 2026.

Allan’s contract includes a €100 million release clause, equivalent to about R$ 602.7 million. suggests that an offer of €40 million – roughly R$ 240.3 million – could satisfy Palmeiras’ valuation. Negotiations are expected to continue until the transfer window closes on 1 September.

What the move means for both clubs

For Manchester City, signing Allan would plug the gap left by Savinho and add a versatile, modern winger to support Pep Guardiola’s multi‑competition schedule. Palmeiras would lose a key starter but could reap a substantial financial return that may fund future squad reinforcement. The deal, if concluded, would illustrate the Citizens’ strategy of blending immediate depth with long‑term potential. A photo from Imago/Pro Sports Images accompanied the report.
