CIES Guardians lifts Diogo Costa to the top, beating Anatoliy Trubin

Diogo Costa and Anatoliy Trubin top the CIES Guardians list, which ranks the most valuable goalkeepers outside the five major European leagues. The captain of FC Porto and starter for the National Team, Costa, is valued at 49.3 million euros, while the Ukrainian international of Benfica, Trubin, reaches 45.1 million euros.

CIES publishes goalkeeper list

After having placed Victor Froholdt and Vangelis Pavlidis at the top of the outfield players, the Football Observatory (CIES) released the list of the most valuable goalkeepers playing outside the five major European leagues.

Diogo Costa, captain of FC Porto and starter in the National Team’s goal, leads the ranking with an assessment of 49.3 million euros.

Right after, Anatoliy Trubin, Ukrainian international of Benfica, occupies the second spot, with an estimated value of 45.1 million euros.

Valuation of the Portuguese League

The CIES study reinforces the growing valuation of assets operating in the Portuguese League in the international market.

Among the other goalkeepers, the Slovak Matej Kovar appears with 29.4 million euros, well below the top two.

The ranking was shared on the CIES Football Observatory’s Twitter on September 23, 2026, accompanied by hashtags highlighting the estimated values.
