Chronicle Life sees Bouwman as a possible Magpies reinforcement in 2027

Chronicle Life sees Bouwman as a possible Magpies reinforcement in 2027

On a cloudy afternoon in Amsterdam, people still recall the summer deal in which Ajax sold Sean Steur to Newcastle United for around €25 million. Now The Chronicle Life suggests that Aaron Bouwman, the 22‑year‑old defender of Ajax, could move to the Magpies in 2027.

Bouwman on Newcastle’s radar

The Chronicle Life tips the Newcastle United board that Bouwman could be a possible transfer in 2027. According to the SN‑Reliability Meter, the English club is looking next calendar year for a replacement for the 34‑year‑old centre‑back Fabian Schär.

Bouwman is mentioned as one of the options. He would fit because Newcastle, now the ninth‑placed team in the Premier League, is increasingly relying on younger players in its transfer policy.

This season Bouwman started as a starter at Ajax, but after the much‑discussed duel with Ruben van Bommel of PSV fell out of the rotation. In the meantime, the AS Monaco‑loanee Thilo Kehrer has taken his place.

Aad de Mos reacted to the duel: “It’s very disappointing for that boy. I think he could also have been a candidate for the Oranje. That boy again played a good match. He is developing excellently. Xavi must have seen that in this match (Ajax – PSV, 1‑3, red).”

Chelsea is keeping a close eye on Bouwman's development, a source says. At Newcastle, Sven Botman, a former Ajax‑defender, is already a successful centre‑back.

The author believes that Bouwman has the height for England and also holds a dual nationality, making him especially attractive to English clubs. He still needs to make strides in aggression, but the hashtags #Ajax and #NewcastleUnited indicate broad interest.
