Chivu warns Inter still unready despite Perth win over Juventus
Andy Diouf’s angled drive caught goalkeeper Michele Di Gregorio off guard and produced the decisive second‑goal for Inter in the pre‑season friendly in Perth. The strike arrived after Federico Dimarco had already put the Nerazzurri ahead, sealing his own goal earlier in the match.
Federico Dimarco opened the scoring for Inter, giving the Nerazzurri a lead they would defend for most of the game. His goal was followed by a period of sustained pressure that left Juventus searching for answers.
Juventus pulled one back late on through Francisco Conceicao, narrowing the margin to 2‑1. The goal sparked a brief surge of Juve chances as they pressed for an equaliser.
Juventus created several opportunities, notably from Randal Kolo Muani and Kerim Alajbegovic, who both tested Inter’s defence in the closing stages. Their efforts, however, could not overturn the deficit.
Cristian Chivu expressed clear disappointment with the second half, stating, “I didn’t like the second half at all. There are no first choices or reserves, even in goal.” He added that the squad lacked depth across the pitch, emphasizing the need for more solutions.
The win allowed Inter to conclude their pre‑season tour in PERTH, AUSTRANIA, on August 08. Chivu noted that the team finished the tour without injuries but still requires a few more weeks to regain sharpness, saying, “We can always do better, at least we conclude the tour without injuries.”
While the 2‑1 victory over Juventus ends the tour on a positive note, Chivu warned that Inter are not ready for the upcoming season. He highlighted the importance of finding more options and improving fitness levels before competitive matches begin.
