Chelsea lock in Palmer with eight-year contract for attacking power

Chelsea this week rewarded attacking midfielder Cole Palmer with a new contract until mid‑2034, with the club seeking a long‑term solution to the creative void that arose last season after a less productive year.

Palmer arrived at Stamford Bridge from Manchester City at the start of the 2023/24 season. After a dazzling start he did not find his form again last season, which meant he missed out on a place in the England World Cup squad.

Revival under Xabi Alonso

Since Xabi Alonso took charge, Palmer has brought life back into his game. In the first seven matches he delivered four goals and two assists. This contribution convinced the club to offer him an eight‑year contract, one of the longest‑running in the Premier League.

The long‑term contract fits Chelsea’s policy of securing young talents early. In August João Pedro was also locked down until mid‑2034, and Pedro Neto signed last month until mid‑2032. This series of long‑term deals underscores the Blues’ ambition to build a stable core.

‘I feel the club is heading in the right direction,’ Palmer said on the official channels. He emphasised that the environment at Chelsea motivates him to continue developing.

Palmer added that everyone shares the same ambitions and he expects to win major trophies regularly. ‘I want to be part of that and also play an important role myself,’ he said, while highlighting his good relationship with João Pedro.

With the contract until 2034, Palmer remains a central figure in Xabi Alonso’s plans for the coming seasons. Maintaining his current form will be crucial to achieving the desired successes.
