Chelsea's early goal run halted by Hull City's resilience

Chelsea and newly‑promoted Hull City shared a 2‑2 draw on Saturday, the Premier League’s fourth round, after Morgan Rogers put the Blues ahead in the seventh minute and Mohamed Berrumi netted twice for the Tigers, keeping their unbeaten start and securing a point.

Chelsea maintained their habit of scoring early, registering the opening goal within the first ten minutes for the fourth successive league match, although none came inside the opening five minutes. The Blues were without midfielder Eisho Morita, who sat on the bench after a recent injury.

Hull City responded at the 28th minute when Mohamed Berrumi struck a left‑foot volley from a fleeting opening. Four minutes later he capitalised on a corner‑kick rebound, again with his left foot, the ball deflecting off a defender before finding the net to give the Tigers the lead.

Chelsea pressed for a winner and in the 66th minute Callum Palmer surged down the left flank, delivering a cross that João Pedro met to restore parity. Despite the pressure, the visitors could not find a third, and the match finished level.

Season statistics and upcoming fixtures

The draw leaves Chelsea with ten goals scored in their opening four games but also nine conceded, marking their first league draw of the season with a record of two wins, one draw and one loss. Hull City, meanwhile, preserve an unbeaten start to their Premier League campaign, sitting on two victories and two draws.

Chelsea travel to Brentford on the 18th for their next league encounter, while Hull City head to Newcastle on the 19th, each looking to build on their recent performances.
