Chelsea Must Sell to maintain balance, Leboeuf tells Alonso

Chelsea Must Sell to maintain balance, Leboeuf tells Alonso that the club must offload at least 15 players from a bloated squad of around 45. Former Chelsea defender Frank Leboeuf said the size of the roster is jeopardising harmony and daily work.

Leboeuf explained that a squad of roughly 45 players forces the manager Xabi Alonso to make hard choices, and that cutting at least 15 names is essential to keep the dressing‑room tuned in and functioning effectively.

He highlighted that several fringe players are already training away from the first team, naming Benoit Badiashile, Axel Disasi and Marc Guiu as examples of the excess personnel.

On the transfer front, Trevoh Chalobah is reported to be close to a move to Como, while other exits and loan deals are being pursued before the window shuts.

Leboeuf also voiced doubts about goalkeeper Robert Sanchez, claiming his foot distribution creates constant anxiety and mistakes despite his competence on the line.

"I think they have like 45 players. They have to get rid of some of them. And of course, Xabi Alonso will have to get rid of at least 15," Leboeuf stressed, adding that working week‑in, week‑out is impossible with such numbers.

He went on to share his Premier League title predictions, saying Manchester City’s future is uncertain under a new coach, Liverpool and Manchester United are also in doubt, and that Arsenal currently looks the strongest contender.
