Chelsea lock up Pedro Neto until 2032 after turning down PL rivals
Portugal winger Pedro Neto has officially signed a new contract at Stamford Bridge, keeping him at Chelsea until the summer of 2032. The deal comes after the Blues rebuffed interest from Manchester City and other Premier League clubs, confirming his commitment to the club.
Long‑term contract confirmed
The Blues confirmed on their official website that Neto has put pen to paper on a fresh deal that runs until 2032, with an additional season option. The announcement was posted as part of the club’s official news feed.
During the summer, Manchester City and other Premier League sides were linked with the 26‑year‑old, while Al Hilal also emerged as a potential destination. Neto chose to stay, turning down those approaches.
Despite not always being a guaranteed starter, Neto has become a key figure in Xabi Alonso’s system, often deployed as a wing‑back. The arrival of Morgan Rogers this summer has added further competition for places on the right flank.
Alonso often deploys Neto as a right wing‑back in his 3‑4‑3 formation, allowing him to contribute both defensively and in attack. This tactical flexibility has made him valuable when injuries or rotations affect the squad.
Why Chelsea fought to keep him
Since joining Chelsea in the 2024/25 season, Neto arrived from Wolverhampton for a reported €60 million. This campaign he has made five appearances, scoring two goals, underscoring his impact when called upon. The transfer fee reflected his reputation as one of Portugal’s promising forwards.
Speaking to the club’s official site, Neto said: “It’s an unbelievable moment. From when I arrived, I have always felt the people here helped me a lot. I feel like home here and I want to achieve more together.”
The long‑term contract gives the Blues stability on the right wing and secures a player familiar with Alonso’s tactical demands. It also signals Chelsea’s intent to retain Premier League talent despite external interest.
For the Portugal international, staying at Stamford Bridge ensures continued Premier League exposure and the chance to develop under a manager who values his versatility. Rejecting offers from Manchester City and Al Hilal reinforces his belief that his future lies with Chelsea.
