Chelsea and Liverpool weigh £75 million bid for Crystal Palace midfielder

Adam Wharton, the 22‑year‑old England international, has been linked with a £75 million move away from Crystal Palace, with both Chelsea and Liverpool monitoring the Premier League midfielder ahead of the January window, recently, according to a report from Hooligan Soccer.

Chelsea are keen to bolster a midfield that has been thinned by the departure of Enzo Fernandez. After a failed attempt to sign Lamine Camara from AS Monaco, the Blues see Wharton’s settled Premier League experience and potential as an ideal addition that could make an immediate impact.

Liverpool, meanwhile, have struggled to dominate the centre of the park, often deploying Ryan Gravenberch in a defensive role that does not suit his strengths. Wharton’s physicality, defensive steel and ability to control the game would address the Reds’ need for a more balanced midfield presence.

Crystal Palace must decide whether to part with a key player in the middle of the season. Wharton was also linked with a summer exit, but no deal materialised, leaving the club to weigh the £75 million offer against the loss of a vital squad member.

Both English clubs possess the resources to meet the asking price, yet it remains to be seen if they are prepared to break the bank for a teenager whose talent has already attracted considerable Premier League attention.
