Charlton chase wing revival with Republic of Ireland winger Alli
Charlton Athletic are looking to bolster a depleted wide‑right option after a series of departures, and have turned to 26‑year‑old Republic of Ireland winger Millenic Alli. The Addicks hope the signing will restore balance on the flank.
Alli arrived at Luton Town after a £1.5 million transfer from Exeter City in January 2025. The move marked his first step up from the lower leagues.
During his spell with the Hatters, Alli made 38 appearances and scored five goals. His contributions were noted as a key part of Luton’s campaign.
He spent the final months of the season on loan at Portsmouth, featuring regularly in League One. The loan gave him valuable experience in England’s third tier.
"He is hungry, he's ambitious, he wants to do really well at this level and kick‑on," said Charlton boss Nathan Jones. Jones highlighted Alli’s drive as essential for the club’s ambitions.
Alli signs a four‑year contract on a free transfer to the Addicks, although Charlton confirmed an undisclosed fee was paid. He becomes the fifth summer acquisition for Jones, joining Ivan Mesik, Billy Koumetio, Karlan Grant and Danny McNamara.
At 26, the Republic of Ireland international brings senior international experience to Charlton’s squad. The addition complements the four other players already signed this summer.
