Charlton Athletic tap Nottingham Forest's Bindon to end crisis
Charlton Athletic are racing to plug a defensive hole after centre‑backs Collins Sichenje and Billy Koumetio were forced off with injuries early in a 5‑1 EFL Cup defeat to Tottenham Hotspur. With the backline reduced to Reece Burke, the Addicks have turned to Nottingham Forest for a season‑long loan of defender Tyler Bindon.
Loan deal seals the gap
The 21‑year‑old New Zealand international broke through at Reading before Nottingham Forest secured his signature in February 2025. He spent last summer on loan at Sheffield United, where he started the first four games and later featured in most league matches in 2026. A medical at the Valley is due before he joins Charlton for the season.
Supporters have welcomed the move, calling Bindon an upgrade after the double centre‑back loss. One fan wrote on X, “That’ll do nicely,” while another praised the 6‑foot‑3 defender’s ball skills. The quick, 24‑hour turnaround has been hailed as a relief and a sign of the club’s responsiveness.

Nathan Jones admitted the injuries to Koumetio and Sichenje may linger, but expects Bindon to restore the quality he demands. Charlton travel to Preston North End tomorrow, aiming for a third straight win and a chance to match their early-season form.
