Chaos erupts as 2,500 Port Vale fans clash at Wolves' Molineux

On Friday night at Wolves' Molineux in the Black Country, roughly 2,500 Port Vale supporters descended into chaos, a scuffle captured on social media just before Wolverhampton Wanderers secured a 3‑0 victory in the second‑round EFL Cup tie that evening.

Police were called after the away end erupted, with footage showing Port Vale fans in a scuffle that also included young children. The incident raised concerns over stadium safety in the Black Country.

Vale began the first half with promise, creating a clear chance that went unconverted. The League Two side later allowed several further opportunities to slip by, leaving them unable to threaten Wolverhampton Wanderers early on.

In the second half, Mo Faal watched a penalty glide over the bar. Wolves responded through Adam Armstrong, Andre and Fer Lopez, each finding the net to seal a comfortable three‑goal margin.

The referee’s final whistle confirmed a 3‑0 win for Wolverhampton Wanderers in the EFL Cup. The result reinforced Wolves’ status as promotion favourites in the Championship.

Port Vale issued a statement saying it is working to “establish the facts” and will cooperate closely with Wolverhampton Wanderers and the relevant authorities, stressing the seriousness of the incident.

Wolves manager Bruno Brady highlighted positives in his side’s performance despite conceding two early goals and acknowledged the disappointment of the opening setbacks. The fixture added another chapter to a historically feisty rivalry, though the episode was confined to Vale supporters rather than the clubs themselves.
