Champions League winner Dani van den Heuvel leaves Club for OH Leuven

Dutch goalkeeper Dani van den Heuvel, 23, left Club Brugge after a season that saw him go from third‑choice keeper to Champions League starter and league champion, before moving to OH Leuven for more playing time and to revive his career.

De Nederlandse goalkeeper began the campaign as the third goalkeeper behind Simon Mignolet and Nordin Jackers, but injuries to both men thrust him onto the pitch.

When called upon, van den Heuvel featured in the Champions League and contributed to Club Brugge’s title‑winning season.

Despite the breakthrough, he chose to depart in the summer, signing for OH Leuven where he expects to be the first‑choice keeper.

The move sets up a meeting next weekend as OH Leuven will face the blue‑black side of Club Brugge, meaning van den Heuvel will play against his former club.

His performance against Club Brugge will be closely watched as a test of his development after a year of limited opportunities.
