CF Montreal signs defender Brayan Ceballos from New England Revolution

CF Montreal signed defender Brayan Ceballos from the New England Revolution on Friday, paying US$500,000 in 2026 general allocation money. The 25‑year‑old Colombian was photographed during an MLS match against Nashville SC on Saturday, Feb. 22, 2025 in Nashville, Tenn., (John Amis/AP).

Montreal also committed $250,000 in 2027 GAM and up to an additional $100,000 in conditional GAM. New England will receive an undisclosed percentage of any future transfer fee involving Ceballos.

Ceballos entered Major League Soccer in January 2025 after the Revolution acquired him from Brazilian side Fortaleza EC. He is a 25‑year‑old Colombian defender.

In MLS he has scored three goals in 38 appearances. He started 37 of those matches.

Internationally, Ceballos has earned four caps with Colombia’s under‑23 team. He featured in the 2024 CONMEBOL Olympic qualifying tournament.

Team executive Luca Saputo said, “We are very pleased to welcome Brayan Ceballos to CF Montréal.” He added that the defender’s reliability and versatility will strengthen the squad.

Montreal currently holds a 4‑9‑3 record, placing them 13th in the Eastern Conference. They sit four points outside the MLS playoff picture.

The image of Ceballos was captured by John Amis/AP during the Nashville SC fixture. The photo underscores his immediate impact in the league.
