Pochettino doubts the consistency of the sanctions

Pochettino, former manager of Tottenham and Chelsea, expressed puzzlement over the handling of the case, stating: “It is very difficult, when a club is found guilty of 114 out of 115 charges, to understand what the appropriate sanction is.” He then recalled the cases of Nottingham Forest and Everton, highlighting the differences between the penalties those clubs faced, which included relegations in the standings and fines.

The Argentine manager focused attention on the Premier League's control system, describing it as “a very delicate and surprising situation.” He asked: “Where were the controls that allowed violations of this kind to occur?” Pochettino also highlighted the disparity of the controls, recalling that at Tottenham the checks were “so strict” compared to other clubs.

In conclusion, Pochettino said: “If it is true that 114 rules have been breached, then we have lived through a situation of deception. No sanction will be able to repair the damage and the Premier League’s control system is seriously compromised.”
