Carrick refuses to confirm whether Fernandes remains captain at United

Michael Carrick refuses to confirm whether Bruno Fernandes will remain as captain of Manchester United, after the Portuguese questioned the manager’s tactics following a painful defeat to Como, while the club has not won any of its last seven matches and sits thirteenth in the Premier League.

The unrest at Manchester United is growing. The club has not won any of its last seven matches and sits thirteenth in the Premier League.

Martínez and Fernandes express dissatisfaction

After Lisandro Martínez criticised technical director Jason Wilcox, Bruno Fernandes also spoke out. He questioned the manager’s tactics after the defeat to Como.

Michael Carrick denies division in the dressing room. He recalls the club’s history and says: “It was never about Ryan Giggs, but about Manchester United.” He adds that Wayne Rooney always played for the team.

The manager refused to answer the question about the captain’s armband. He mentioned Sir Alex Ferguson, Sir Matt Busby and Sir Bobby Charlton and declared: “It was based on humility and hard work. We must never lose that.”

Carrick takes responsibility for the sporting crisis. “We have lost our way, but we will find what is needed again,” he said. “I hold that umbrella so I get wet and the rest stays dry.”

Carrick remains ‘one hundred percent’ convinced that he can help United out of trouble.
