Carrick asks for a swift decision on the Manchester City case
Manchester United manager Michael Carrick has called for an immediate decision on the ruling that found Manchester City guilty of numerous Premier League financial violations between 2009 and 2018. Carrick said he feels personally affected by the matter and is awaiting the club's appeal.
Carrick's historical context
The former Red Devils midfielder experienced the Citizens' seasons firsthand, from the famous 2011/12 title climax decided by Sergio Agüero's goal in injury time, to the second‑place finishes in 2017/18 and 2020/21. Despite these memories, he believes that any possible reassignment of titles cannot restore the lost emotions.
“In football, the desire to win, the emotions and the feelings are tied to that moment,” Carrick explained. “If a medal arrives years later, it can never give you what you feel when you truly win a trophy on the pitch.”

The manager added that the issue has raised many questions and that, as long as the process is not concluded, he prefers not to comment further on the allocation of championships. “It is essential to reach a decision as soon as possible, in everyone's interest,” he concluded.
