Carragher condemns Bruno Fernandes and revives his Harry Kane warning
Former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher blasted Man Utd midfielder Bruno Fernandes after the Red Devils fell 1‑0 to Manchester City at Old Trafford on Sunday, reminding fans of the same criticism he levelled at Harry Kane a few years earlier. The goal sparked debate after Haaland was initially flagged for offside, but a lengthy VAR review confirmed he was onside as Enzo Fernandez, though offside, was judged not to be interfering.

The match also featured two contentious dismissals. Man Utd endured a 1‑0 home defeat to Manchester City in the Premier League on Sunday, with Norway international Erling Haaland finding the net on the hour‑mark. “I was really disappointed with Bruno Fernandes,” he said.

Carragher then recalled a similar episode involving Harry Kane, noting that he had condemned the Tottenham striker a few years ago when Doucoure was sent off after a clash with Kane in April 2023. Kane, now at Bayern Munich, had dropped to the ground after being pushed in the face by Abdoulaye Doucoure.

He warned that he does not tolerate players feigning injury to gain an advantage, insisting, “I’m not accepting diving, but that’s part of the game. When we get back in the car I’d just say, ‘What were you doing there? Don’t ever do that again on a football pitch.’”

The contrast between Carragher’s sharp rebuke of Fernandes and his earlier admonishment of Kane highlights his consistent stance against perceived gamesmanship, even as some Red Devils’ supporters claim his comments are coloured by bias against foreign players.
