BVB signs Karetsas Konstantelias – 3 Bundesliga clubs eye Zafeiris
In the training hall of Borussia Dortmund there is an unusual scent of Greek olive oil, because just this summer Konstantinos Karetsas moved to BVB and his former teammate Giannis Konstantelias is already playing for Dortmund's first team. The transfer of Karetsas and Konstantelias marks the second Greek signing for the club this summer.
PAOK's midfield jewel in focus
The 22‑year‑old midfielder Christos Zafeiris, currently at PAOK Saloniki, is considered by Wie TV Proponitika as a potential next Greek talent who could make the jump to the Bundesliga. Three German clubs – VfB Stuttgart, TSG Hoffenheim and RB Leipzig – are already watching him closely.
First contacts via agents
Agents have therefore started initial talks with the three interested parties, but so far there are no concrete offers for Zafeiris or for PAOK. The clubs have been tracking the Greek international for some time.
Financial framework
PAOK paid around €10.5 million to Slavia Prague in the summer of 2025 for Zafeiris and has firmly entrenched him in the squad since the start of the season. The player's contract runs until 2029, making a mid‑season departure unlikely.
A possible transfer is therefore more likely to be realised next summer, if PAOK shows less interest in an immediate sale. For Stuttgart, Hoffenheim and Leipzig, Zafeiris remains a clear candidate on their watch list already now.
