BVB‑News: Sancho gets another bitter rebuff, Krasnodar turns down offer
The new season has long been underway, but BVB‑News report that former Dortmund player Jadon Sancho has once again received a bitter rejection. According to Championat.ru, he was offered a contract with the Russian top‑flight club FK Krasnodar, but the club turned down the interest of the 26‑year‑old attacking player.
Sancho's departure and current situation
Sancho made a name for himself at Borussia Dortmund between 2017 and 2021 and then moved to Manchester United for a hefty €85 million. In Manchester, however, he never broke through, and he spent the last seasons mostly on loan, most recently again at Dortmund in the second half of the 2023/24 season.
After his contract with United expired, the English dribbler remains without a club. While rumours of a return to BVB grew – a transfer without a fee would have been possible due to his free‑agent status – the matter remained concretely unclear.
The latest report from Championat.ru states that Sancho could imagine an engagement with the current league leaders of the Russian league, but Krasnodar has not responded to the player side. There have been no concrete talks about a signing, it says.
More BVB‑News: Departure of Kostoglou
Parallel to the Sancho rumours, Borussia Dortmund announced a surprising departure: midfield talent Christos Kostoglou, 17, moved from the B‑Junior team to the second team of PAOK Saloniki. The Greek had joined the BVB youth from Borussia Mönchengladbach in 2023 and had scored twelve goals and provided eight assists in 24 appearances for the B‑Juniors.
Kostoglou's contract, which would have run until 2027, was apparently terminated early, so he is now under contract with PAOK until 2029. The transfer took place despite the summer window being closed, because free‑agents can still be signed there until the end of September.
