Burnley Luis faces Hull City interest as Hayen weighs summer exit

Burnley’s Portuguese midfielder Florentino Luis has not told manager Nicky Hayen that he wants to leave, yet the Clarets boss concedes the player could depart this summer as Hull City show interest. Luis made 33 appearances across all competitions last season, a fact that underscores his importance to the squad.

Luis joined the Clarets permanently from Benfica after an obligation to buy was triggered following his loan at Turf Moor last term. The move turned his temporary stay at Burnley into a full‑time contract, cementing his place in the team.

Following Burnley’s relegation from the Premier League, the club is rebuilding in the Championship while newly promoted Premier League side Hull City have emerged as potential suitors. The Hull interest arrives as the Clarets look to reshape their roster for a promotion push.

"What I can say about Tino is that he's very, very professional," Hayen told BBC Radio Lancashire. "You don't see it on the training ground that there's interest from Hull City. He's giving himself every day 100% and this is actually the mindset that I like."

Hayen stressed that any player must show 100% commitment if they wish to stay, urging the squad to remain united as they chase promotion back to the Championship. He added that players should approach the chairman or him directly if they have other ideas.

Hayen admitted that if the terms are right, Luis could move to Hull City, leaving Burnley to find a new solution for a top player. Securing Luis would give Hull a Portuguese midfielder with Championship experience, while Burnley would need to fill the gap as they rebuild after relegation.
