Bundesliga: Bayern deprived of Lena Oberdorf for several weeks
Bayern Munich announced on Wednesday that its 24-year-old midfielder, Lena Oberdorf, will be unavailable for several weeks due to a new reaction in the right knee joint, the German international with 51 caps, according to the brief statement from the Bavarian club.
The Bavarians indicated that Bayern's medical department diagnosed a reaction in the right knee joint. The club specified that the international will have to do without its services “for the coming weeks”. This information was conveyed in the statement released on Wednesday.
Interrupted comeback
Oberdorf did not have time to enjoy her return, which was halted by a cruciate ligament rupture suffered in October 2025. This injury was the second consecutive one after the one that had kept her out of the Euro and the Olympic Games in 2024. The previous season had therefore been blank.
This season, she has accumulated 45 minutes of play across two Bundesliga matches. In the match against Freiburg last Sunday, she provided an assist to her teammate Klara Bühl. These appearances remain modest after her gradual return.
Record since her arrival
Since her transfer from VfL Wolfsburg in 2024, Lena Oberdorf has featured in ten matches for Bayern Munich. She has scored three goals during those appearances. Her contribution remains limited but promising for the German champions.
The prolonged absence risks reducing her chances of taking part in the 2027 World Cup. The German national team is closely monitoring her fitness. The recovery time will be decisive for her international future.
Bayern Munich will continue to monitor her medical progress. An update will be provided in upcoming statements. The supporters hope for a swift recovery.
