Club Brugge turns the tables in a spectacular duel against Inter
While both Internazionale and Club Brugge had lost their first match in the League Phase of the Champions League, the evening in Milan unexpectedly turned in the Belgians' favour. Club Brugge fought back with a 4-3 win over Inter, securing three of the six possible points and once again fully participating in the phase.
A surprising turn for both clubs
Internazionale, who had played Real Madrid earlier in the week, and Club Brugge, who hosted Aston Villa at home, were under pressure to get a point. The availability of winger Carlos Forbs, which had sparked much discussion beforehand, proved not to be a hindrance; he started the match in Milan.
The first half ended 1-1. Nicolò Tresoldi opened the scoring for Brugge after a penalty in the 30th minute, followed by an equaliser from Lautaro Martínez shortly before halftime, after a combination with Federico Dimarco.
Brugge dominates the second half
After the break, Brugge capitalised on defensive errors by Inter. In the 63rd minute, Forbs delivered a pass that gave Tresoldi his second goal, and he completed his hat‑trick in the 74th minute after a rebound from goalkeeper Josep Martínez.

Lautaro Martínez reduced the deficit for Inter in the 81st minute, but Romeo Vermant, also supplied by Forbs, restored the two‑goal lead for Brugge in the 87th minute.
In injury time, Ange‑Yoan Bonny came onto the field and scored Inter's third goal in the 90+3 minute, but it was too late to change the outcome.

“I’m not doing any analysis, I’m just stating the facts. This is not obvious from Club Brugge to put something like this together,” said a local politician in Wetteren while he followed the match.
The victory means that Brugge now has three points in the League Phase, while Inter is still searching for their first point.
