Bruges dominate Belgian market values as Union and rivals lag
In a bustling Brussels café, the latest Transfermarkt update on Belgian football market values sparked animated discussion. The figures show Unionistes and Anderlecht and Standard all vying for attention in the Jupiler Pro League, as the Mercato reshapes the hierarchy of the Belgique’s top talent.
Bruges clubs claim eight spots
The specialised site eight players from Club Brugge sit inside the top‑twenty most valuable athletes in the Jupiler Pro League. Even more striking, the first four positions are all occupied by Bruges‑based talent, underscoring the club’s dominance in the current valuation landscape.
Leading the pack is Nicolò Tresoldi, whose market price is estimated at €35 million. He is followed by Joel Ordóñez at €33 million, Joaquin Seys at €27 million and Carlos Forbs at €23 million, each representing the blue‑and‑black side’s premium assets.
Further down the list, Jan Virgili holds the sixth spot with a €15 million tag, Kyriani Sabbe is eighth at €13 million, Romeo Vermant ninth at €12 million and Freddie Potts thirteenth at €10 million, completing the Bruges‑heavy top‑twenty.
Genk’s goalkeeper Lucca Brughmans registers the biggest single‑season jump, adding €16 million to his valuation since the early‑June update. The rise follows his €33 million transfer to Liverpool, lifting his current worth to €20 million and positioning him fifth overall.
Union Saint‑Gilloise sees biggest spikes
Union Saint‑Gilloise, the club often referred to as the Unionistes, enjoys the second‑largest surge in player values across the league. Kevin Mac Allister and Adem Zorgane lead the Union’s chart at €12 million each.
Additional Union players have also climbed sharply: Kamiel Van de Perre now stands at €11 million (+€3 million), Besfort Zeneli at €10 million (+€4 million), Mateo Biondic at €7 million (+€5 million) and Massiré Sylla at €5 million (+€4.2 million).
Anderlecht and Standard each manage only a single top‑twenty entry. For the Mauves, Mihajlo Cvetkovic is valued at €10 million, while Andrew Omobamidele and Tawfik Bentayeb sit at €8 million each.
Standard’s lone representative is goalkeeper Matthieu Epolo, also priced at €10 million, with fellow Rouches Adnane Abid (€6 million) and Ibrahim Karamoko (€5 million) further down the ranking.
The upcoming Walloon clash between Standard and Charleroi adds extra intrigue, as the Cat, Charleroi’s nickname, declared “Mehdi Bayat invests heavily, we must reap the fruits”. The match, set for this weekend, will test whether the valuation gap translates into on‑field advantage.
