Britney De Villiers calls out Thomas Tuchel over Morgan Gibbs-White’s England snub
Morgan Gibbs-White, the 26‑year‑old Nottingham Forest midfielder, has been omitted from Thomas Tuchel’s latest England squad, prompting his fiancée Britney De Villiers to publicly criticise the manager on Instagram. The squad, announced on Friday for Nations League fixtures against Spain, the Czech Republic and Croatia, does not feature the Forest playmaker.
Gibbs-White was also left out of England’s World Cup squad in the summer, despite delivering an impressive Premier League campaign for Forest last season. His omission sparked debate given his contributions to the club’s survival.
This season he has already recorded a goal and two assists in four Premier League appearances. Britney De Villiers highlighted on Instagram that he is the only player to have created five or more chances in a single Premier League game this season.
Tuchel’s rationale
Thomas Tuchel defended his selection, saying it makes no sense to nominate three, four or five number‑10s. He noted that Jude Bellingham, Cole Palmer and Eberechi Eze have been named as England’s three No.10s for the upcoming international break.

Tuchel added that Gibbs‑White’s form was evident, recalling his key role in helping Forest avoid relegation. He argued that while players like Cole Palmer can regain their place, performance for England must be proven to justify a nomination.
