Brilliant English youngster joins Liverpool as academy deepens

Brilliant English defender Isaiah Brown, the 15‑year‑old former West Brom centre‑back, has confirmed his move to Liverpool, joining the club’s U16 squad and likely progressing to the U18s, adding another promising youngster to the Reds’ academy ranks as part of a broader youth recruitment drive.

Brown announced the transfer on Instagram, stating he has completed the switch from West Brom and will begin training with Liverpool’s U16 side, with expectations of moving up to the U18s later in the season, bolstering the academy’s centre‑back depth.

Liverpool have also secured several other youth players this year, including the U21 signing Ifeanyi Ndukwe and academy additions Zach Trinder, Samuel Martinez, Armin Pecsi, Will Wright and Mor Talla Ndiaye, alongside Dara Jikiemi, further expanding their development pipeline.

Twelve months ago the club completed deals for Florian Wirtz and Milos Kerkez, while potential moves for Hugo Ekitike and Alexander Isak were reported to be progressing positively, illustrating Liverpool’s active summer recruitment.

The Reds now appear set to miss out on Ivorian winger Yan Diomande, who is reported to be edging closer to a move to Paris Saint‑Germain, a setback given his profile matched Liverpool’s model of signing young, versatile talent.

Richard Hughes and his recruitment team face the challenge of replacing a player of Mohamed Salah’s calibre, while also needing reinforcements in midfield, a new right‑back, centre‑back and possibly another attacking option, underscoring the complexity of the transfer agenda.

Overall, this window has been considerably quieter than the same stage last summer, leaving supporters disappointed but reminding that the market can move quickly and Liverpool still have time to adjust their squad plans.
