Brighton chase winger to replace Yankuba Minteh as Premier watch
Brighton are scrambling for a replacement after Gambia winger Yankuba Minteh attracted Liverpool’s £60 million bid, leaving a void on the flank as the Premier League season looms. The Seagulls have already lost Jan Paul van Hecke and Danny Welbeck, and must act before the transfer window closes.
Potential signing of Yeremay Hernandez
Brighton are keen on signing Spanish winger Yeremay Hernandez, according to talkSPORT. The Deportivo de A Coruna star has also been linked with a move to Hull, but the Seagulls have begun to show interest, putting them in direct competition with another Premier League side.
Hull owner Alcun Ilicali told BBC Radio Humberside that Hernandez “wants to come but it is a very vital, critical decision for himself” and that “it would change his life completely”. He added that the club is “somewhere where it looks positive” for the deal.
Getty reported Ilicali saying, “We will see in three, four days if this deal will be done or not. If it happens it will be a record for sure.” The quote underscores the speed at which the transfer could materialise.
Performance record and injury concerns
Hernandez, 23, helped Deportivo secure promotion to LaLiga last term, scoring 10 goals and providing 11 assists in 38 LaLiga 2 matches in the 2025/26 campaign. The previous season he netted 15 league goals in 39 games and added five assists, establishing himself as a Spain Under‑21 international.
He missed Deportivo’s LaLiga opener against Elche after a groin injury, which also kept him out of all pre‑season fixtures. It remains unclear when he would be fit to play for either Brighton or Hull.
Brighton have already lost Jan Paul van Hecke to Tottenham and Danny Welbeck to Chelsea this window, and have agreed a £70 million deal to sell midfielder Carlos Baleba to Manchester United, highlighting the urgency of finding a new wide‑player option.
