Brighton Brajan Gruda secures future at RB Leipzig with €30 m option
Brighton’s 22‑year‑old Germany U21 winger Brajan Gruda has signed a renewed loan with RB Leipzig, featuring a €30 million purchase option and a €1 million loan fee. The deal keeps the Seagulls’ prospect in the Bundesliga for the 2026/27 season and triggers performance bonuses for Brighton if set targets are met.
Gruda opened the summer by scoring the winning goal in RB Leipzig’s first pre‑season friendly, underlining his impact on the German Red Bulls. He described the moment as proof of his growing influence at the club.
During the previous campaign he recorded three goals and three assists across 11 Bundesliga appearances, a contribution that convinced Leipzig to retain his services.
The Seagulls initially sent the winger to Leipzig on a six‑month loan in January 2025. After that spell both clubs negotiated a fresh loan, allowing Gruda to continue his development in Germany’s top flight.
The new agreement grants Leipzig a €30 million option to sign Gruda permanently if he maintains his form, while Brighton will also collect performance‑related bonuses throughout the forthcoming campaign.
With attacking talents Yan Diomande and Antonio Nusa expected to depart this summer, Gruda offers Leipzig an excellent insurance policy for the forward line. His versatility and proven goal‑scoring record add valuable depth to the squad.
Martin Demichelis praised Gruda, saying, “I really like players like him… One needs players like him to keep quality ball possession.” Gruda echoed his enthusiasm, stating, “I was quick to remain here in Leipzig. I actually kept my apartment because I knew I wanted to be here.”
For Brighton, the arrangement secures future financial returns while giving the player valuable experience. For Leipzig, the loan extension ensures continuity in attack as the club rebuilds ahead of the new Bundesliga season.
