Brighton and Bournemouth chase Parra – German coaching duel for Colombian talent
While the Premier League generally looks for South American talent, the eyes of two German coaches are focused specifically on the 21‑year‑old defender Néider Parra – a clear contrast between broad market interest and individual scouting effort.
Marco Rose, manager of Bournemouth, and his colleague at the Hürzeler‑club Brighton are watching Parra in the last league match of Atlético Nacional Medellín. According to Sport Witness, besides the two scouts, representatives from Porto, Ajax and the Brazilian club Palmeiras were present, and observers from Serie A were mentioned.
Broad interest from the Premier League
Parra has so far made 15 appearances for Atlético Nacional, stands 1.92 metres tall and is already being compared with Davinson Sánchez. In the dressing room he shares the space with former Bayern star James Rodríguez, who can give him insights into various European leagues.
Brighton recently signed the 18‑year‑old midfielder Matías Orozco from Deportivo Cali for €4.1 million; Orozco is currently playing for the Spanish second‑division side CD Castellón and has already made a positive impression.
The latest South American influx into the Premier League continues: Liverpool brought in Samuel Martínez from Atlético Nacional, Arsenal signed Edwin and Hólger Quintero from Independiente del Valle, and Sunderland paid €5.85 million for Juan Riquelme Angulo.
