Boxing Day dates set – Goretzka could take on Wirtz

The Premier League has precisely scheduled the matchdays around Boxing Day and the turn of the year. From a German perspective, the potential duel between Leon Goretzka and Florian Wirtz on December 30 comes into focus, with the exact dates already released.

As the Premier League officially announces, the exact dates for matchdays 17 to 20 are set. The fixtures were published after consultation with broadcasting partners and after discussion with fan representatives, so supporters can plan their trips early.

Match schedule around the holidays

On Boxing Day, five matches take place from 13:30. Liverpool meets Hull City at 18:30, followed by Newcastle United at 21:00, while Manchester City has a later kickoff. All clubs are required to have a mandatory break of at least 60 hours between two games during this period.

The 30th of December will be particularly interesting. Then, from 21:15, a Premier League duel between Aston Villa's new signing Leon Goretzka and Liverpool's Florian Wirtz could take place. At the same time, Ipswich faces Chelsea.

The start of the year also brings several interesting fixtures. Leeds United hosts Everton on January 1. On January 3, among others, Chelsea versus Newcastle and Manchester City versus Tottenham are on the agenda. On matchday 20, the managerial duel between Fabian Hürzeler and Marco Rose also follows.

Thus, the holidays and the turn of the year are clearly structured, allowing fans to coordinate their travel and preparations in time.
