Bournemouth sign Benfica‑Eigengewächs António Silva for €25m

AFC Bournemouth have completed the signing of Benfica‑Eigengewächs António Silva, the 22‑year‑old centre‑back, for a market‑value‑aligned fee of €25 million, potentially rising to €30 million with bonuses, the club confirmed on 1 August 2026, in a deal described as market‑value correct and marking the club's first major acquisition under new manager Marco Rose.

The Premier League side confirmed the €25 million payment aligns with Silva's current market value, with performance‑related add‑ons that could lift the total to €30 million, according to official statements from the Lisbon club.

Silva, who progressed through Benfica's academy, broke into the first team in the summer of 2022 under German coach Roger Schmidt, amassing 183 appearances and ten goals for the Portuguese giants.

He earned his senior Portugal debut later that year, though he was not selected for the World Cup squad.

During his four‑year spell, Silva collected four trophies with Benfica, including the league title in his inaugural season.

His market value peaked at €45 million in the previous two seasons before settling at €25 million at the time of the transfer.

The acquisition is the second signing announced by new Bournemouth manager Marco Rose, who is reshaping the squad.
