Borussia Dortmund breathes easy: Karetsas' exams go smoothly

The young Greek Konstantinos Karetsas, forced to leave the Champions League match against Villarreal prematurely, has returned to Borussia Dortmund's sports centre after medical examinations showed no abnormalities.

The precise reasons that forced the player to stop the match remain unexplained, but encouraging signals about his physical condition are emerging within the club.

In‑depth medical checks

The new signing of BVB underwent thorough checks for three days, as sporting director Lars Ricken confirmed before the match against Paderborn. “We put him under scrutiny for three days, we examined him really thoroughly,” Ricken said. Not any problems emerged, according to the specialists’ conclusions.

Ricken clarified that, despite the player’s mother Irena Kitsinis’s hypotheses about possible dehydration, the club cannot confirm any such anomaly.

Return prospects

The youngster has already resumed individual work at Dortmund’s sports centre and the club does not fear long‑term consequences. “We will reintegrate him gradually. Next week he should be back training with the group,” Ricken added, hinting at an assessment for possible availability against Stuttgart.

Bor, as it is sometimes referred to internally, remains confident in Karetsas’s ability to fully recover and contribute to the team’s upcoming challenges.
