Bologna shuts €30m Atalanta bid for former OM winger

One year after his turbulent exit from OM, 23‑year‑old Jonathan Rowe has already made his mark in Italy, but Bologna have rejected Atalanta’s €30 million approach for the former Norwich and Marseille left‑winger, keeping the player in their squad for now.

Atalanta’s €30 million bid and Bologna’s response

According to Gianluca Di Marzio, relayed by Foot Mercato, Atalanta Bergamo submitted an initial proposal worth around €30 million to Bologna. The Bergamo club aims to sign the former Norwich and Marseille player. The offer arrived a few days before the transfer window’s closure, though the identities of other interested clubs were not disclosed.

Rowe arrived in Italy after a chaotic conclusion to his spell with OM and quickly found his footing at Bologna. In his first season he recorded eight goals and four assists across 43 appearances in all competitions. At 23, the English international has already become a key left‑wing option for the club.

The northern Italian club’s hierarchy says it will not part with Rowe at this stage of the market. Bologna’s squad has already lost forward Thijs Dallinga to Cologne and defender Jhon Lucumí to Juventus, yet the management insists on keeping Rowe despite the lucrative offer.

Atalanta may launch a renewed offensive, which could force Bologna to reassess its position, but for now the club’s door remains closed to the €30 million proposal.

Separately, OM’s recent victory over Strasbourg has reinforced the optimism expressed by Souleymane Diawara regarding Bruno Genesio’s work at the French club.
