Bologna's attack revamp hinges on Robinio Vaz pursuit
Bologna have opened talks to sign 2007‑born forward Robinio Vaz from Serie A side Roma, hoping to plug a striking gap before the new season as the Italian club reshapes its attack while Roma push to complete the €35 million sale of midfielder Castro.
The Rossoblu have named the former Marseille striker a priority target as they look to bolster their attack for the upcoming season. Bologna see Vaz as the ideal profile to fill the identified striking gap. Their pursuit follows an active search that began earlier this year.
Roma have been in constant contact with Bologna in recent days to finalise the transfer of midfielder Castro. The deal is valued at approximately €35 million including bonuses. Both clubs view the sale as a key component of their broader negotiations.
Discussions have also turned to a potential move for Artem Dovbyk. The Ukrainian forward must give his final approval before any transfer to the Rossoblu can be completed. His consent represents a separate hurdle in the ongoing talks.
According to Corriere dello Sport, Robinio Vaz was a target of sporting director Di Vaio back in January. Frederic Massara later secured the player for Roma by offering €22 million plus €3 million in bonuses. The figures demonstrate the financial interest Roma have shown in the forward.
However, the connection between Vaz and Roma’s head coach Gasperini has not clicked, which is why Bologna consider his profile back in fashion for their own project. The lack of rapport leaves the player open to a move away from the Giallorossi. This situation aligns with Bologna’s desire to add a promising young forward.
Bologna’s directors Sartori and Di Vaio continue to keep Vaz on their radar. Another name, Espi, carries a €25 million release clause that currently keeps him out of Bologna’s reach. If Bologna succeed in signing Vaz, they will add a promising young forward to strengthen their attacking options.
