Bologna dismisses Coach Tedesco after a short tenure
International Football News: The Italian top‑flight club Bologna has dismissed the 41‑year‑old coach Domenico Tedesco after only four matchdays and one point from Serie A and has appointed Raffaele Palladino as his successor. The decision follows a two‑game suspension for a verbal attack on the referee after the 2‑2 draw against Sassuolo.
First half of the season and league position
In the first four Serie A matches Bologna collected only one point and lost 0‑1 in Naples last weekend. As a result, the club sits in 16th place after the fourth matchday. The poor record was a key reason for the split with Tedesco.
The trigger was an incident against Sassuolo, where the match ended 2‑2. Tedesco insulted the referee in stoppage time and continued his tirade in the dressing room. The league then suspended him for two games for “extremely disrespectful behaviour”.
Domenico Tedesco, 41, was previously the coach of Schalke 04 and RB Leipzig as well as the national team of Belgium. Before Bologna he had coached Fenerbahçe Istanbul in the previous season. His international experience spans from the Bundesliga to the Turkish Süper Lig.
Raffaele Palladino takes over
Raffaele Palladino assumes the role of head coach. The former Atalanta coach signed a contract until mid‑2029. He will already lead training on Wednesday and will play his first match on Saturday against Torino at the home stadium.
Palladino is thus the second successor that Bologna has presented this season. Previously, Fabio Grosso lost the coaching position at Fiorentina, after which Paolo Vanoli stepped in. The report also mentions Michele Maraviglia.
The officials hope that Palladino will stabilise the team and improve its position in the middle of the table. International Football News will continue to follow the development.
