Biancone: defender and Sibierski’s right‑hand at Anderlecht
Giulian Biancone is not only a central defender for RSC Anderlecht but also the right‑hand man of head coach Sibierski, saying he urged his compatriot Léo Pétrot to join the club, a partnership that has quickly become central to the Belgian side’s defence.
The two Fransen arrived in Brussel this summer and were among the first names Victor Bruno placed on his match sheet, instantly forming a fixed duo in the Anderlecht-defensie.
On‑field partnership fuels Anderlecht defence
On Thursday evening Pétrot scored the opening goal from a rebound after a header by Biancone. “But I don’t know if mine was really powerful enough to go in. The goalkeeper could have dealt with the ball better,” Biancone admitted afterwards.
Biancone later supplied a pass that set up Lukas Ambros’s 2‑1 winner, yet he downplayed his involvement, saying, “He did most of the work himself, but it’s nice to be decisive in some way.”
He also revealed he had called Pétrot before he arrived: “I even called him before he came to the club. I said, ‘Léo, come, you’ll have a great time here. We have a fantastic coach, a staff that works very well and an interesting project.’ He decided to follow me.”
On the pitch the French (Franse) duo speaks to each other firmly when needed, always positively. “A real connection develops and I hope it keeps growing,” Biancone said.
He added that the pair must become defensively stronger and aim for as many clean sheets as possible, believing that the quality they have this season will bring many points.
