Bernal's minutes rise as United push up Super League

On a breezy Sunday at the Academy Stadium, Mexican striker Rebeca Bernal watched from the bench as Manchester United faced West Ham in the fourth round of the Women’s Super League. When she stepped onto the pitch in the 76th minute, the Red Devils already led 2‑0, and she added her name to a growing tally of appearances.

Poco a poco Bernal is cementing her place in the squad. Although she began the match as a substitute, she entered the second half, marking her fourth appearance in which she has accumulated minutes for the Red Devils.

Gradual integration into the Red Devils

Just days after she opened her United scoring account with a brace in a 10‑1 Women’s League Cup win over Sheffield United, Bernal again started the day on the bench against the Hammers. She replaced Ella Toone in the 76th minute, with United already two goals ahead.

The visitors’ consolation came from Vivianne Aseyi’s penalty in the third minute of added time. Manchester’s own goals were supplied by Elisabeth Terland at nine minutes and Andrea Medina at the 72nd, moments before Bernal’s introduction.

Liverpool and United face deeper injury crisis after Sunday internationals

AFP confirmed Bernal’s transfer to the English club earlier this season, a story that also appeared in the Futbol bulletin and was marked as a preferred source on Google. Her debut on the bench came against London City Lionesses in the opening round of the Women’s Super League. Since then she has logged 170 minutes across four matches – three league fixtures and one cup – and has already netted twice.

The Sheffield United cup tie remains the only game where Bernal started. Against Chelsea she entered at the 62nd minute and received a yellow card, while versus Arsenal she came on in the 53rd minute. Her most recent appearance, the Sunday West Ham game, saw her replace Toone in the 76th minute without further incident.

Upcoming fixtures keep Bernal busy

Manchester United’s schedule next week is packed. On Wednesday 30 September the Red Devils travel to Durham for the second round of the Women’s League Cup at 12:00 Central Mexican time, and on Saturday 3 October they host Liverpool in the Women’s Super League at 6:30, a match that could boost their league standing.
