Beerschot launch Challenger Pro League campaign with dominant display

Beerschot opened their Challenger Pro League season on 16 August 2026 with a resounding 4‑0 victory over the Jong side of KAA Gent at the Kiel, delivering a flawless start in front of their home supporters. The win saw early pressure, a disallowed goal from new signing Jelle Vossen, and three further strikes to seal the triumph.

The match, matchday one of the Challenger Pro League, kicked off at 16:03 on 16 August 2026. Beerschot applied early pressure and saw new signing Jelle Vossen think he had opened his official account after five minutes, but the goal was ruled out for off‑side. Five minutes later, Lukas Van Eeenoo headed a Glenn Claes cross past the ropes to give the hosts the lead. The Jupiler branding was visible throughout the LeagueChallenger fixture.

Second‑half dominance

In the second half Beerschot extended their dominance with three further strikes. Wright‑Philips doubled the score a little past the hour, while Vula and Van Eenoo added goals in the final quarter to complete a 4‑0 win. The performance was praised as worthy of a LeagueChampions level display, even as the competition is part of the LeagueEuropa and LeagueConference structures.

Home crowd and overall control

The home crowd at the Kiel witnessed a flawless display, with the supporters cheering every attack. Beerschot’s control of possession and chance creation reflected the ambition of the LeagueMeer and the pride of the LeagueBeerschot banner that flew over the stands. The side showed no mercy to the visitors, who had to endure the law of the strongest on the Kiel.

The opposition, Jong KAA Gent, fielded a youthful side that struggled to cope with the intensity. Gentzo fans traveled to the Kiel, but the GentChallenger clash highlighted the gap between the two squads. The youngsters were unable to respond to the relentless pressure.

The official match report recorded the result as BeerschotBeerschoteinde4-0Jong, cementing the opening statement of the campaign. Statistics showed four clean‑sheet minutes and a total of four goals for the hosts.

Van remained a constant threat throughout, contributing both a goal and an assist. The victory gives Beerschot a perfect start to their Challenger Pro League season.
