Bayern shut Liverpool’s hopes for Michael Olise in January
£123 million was the price Liverpool paid for Bradley Barcola, yet the club’s earlier target Michael Olise will not arrive as Bayern Munich have ruled out a January sale, according to a German journalist. The decision means Liverpool must continue searching for a right‑wing replacement for Mohamed Salah, who departed Anfield at the end of last season.
Olise on Liverpool’s radar
Michael Olise was on Liverpool’s radar as a potential replacement for Mohamed Salah, who left Anfield at the end of last season. The German winger was identified early as a natural right‑sided attacker, a profile Liverpool have struggled to fill.
Liverpool eventually splashed £123 million to sign Bradley Barcola from Paris Saint-Germain, confirming their willingness to invest heavily in attacking talent.
While Barcola started on the right wing for Liverpool against Atletico Madrid at Anfield in the Champions League on Wednesday evening, the France international is better suited to the left flank, leaving a gap on the right.
There is still a need for Liverpool to eventually sign a specialist right‑winger to replace Salah. Interest in Olise persists, journalist Farrell Keeling reported. "It is NOT TRUE: Bayern would consider selling Michael Olise in January if the right offer came in," he wrote, adding that Bayern do not deal in the winter, aim to win the Champions League, and no amount would persuade them.
The former Crystal Palace man will play for Bayern Munich this season, and there is no chance of him moving to Liverpool, Real Madrid, Paris Saint‑Germain or any Premier League side.
