Bayern scout veteran keepers as Neuer talks linger
Bayern Munich are reportedly weighing the acquisition of a veteran goalkeeper while continuing negotiations with Manuel Neuer and Sven Ulreich, whose contracts run until next summer, as the club also scouts a range of experienced keepers both in Germany and abroad.
The current goalkeeping unit comprises 40‑year‑old Manuel Neuer, 38‑year‑old Sven Ulreich and 23‑year‑old Jonas Ulrich, with Neuer having featured in five official matches this season and Ulrich in two, while Ulreich remains the third‑choice keeper.
Domestically, Cologne captain Marvin Schwäbe and Hoffenheim’s Oliver Baumann, who has earned 13 caps for Germany, are highlighted, with Schwäbe’s contract running to June 2027 and Baumann’s to June 2028.
Internationally, Bayern have listed Fulham’s Bernd Leno, Paris FC’s Kevin Trapp, Monaco’s Lucas Fradezky, Newcastle United’s Nick Pope, Atletico Madrid’s Juan Musso and Sporting CP’s Luis Silva as possible targets.
The juxtaposition of ongoing talks with ageing incumbents and a broad scouting net underscores Bayern’s intent to secure a seasoned goalkeeper who can mentor the young Jonas Ulrich.
