Bayern's Kompany stable, but still out for weeks

Bayern's Kompany has been confirmed stable after the illness that occurred yesterday during training; the coach was admitted to a clinic in Munich and will remain in hospital for several weeks, said sporting director Max Eberl at a press conference on Saturday, 24 October 2026.
Clinical update
According to Eberl, Kompany is in stable condition but requires thorough examinations. The club clarified that recovery will take weeks, not days, and no exact deadline has been set. The priority, he added, is the coach's health.
Impact on the team
Kompany's absence will cost Bayern several league matchdays, including the upcoming fixture in Freiburg against the third‑placed team. Moreover, the coach will not be able to lead the side against Atlético Madrid in the Champions League on 3 November. The club will have to do without his guidance for the indicated period.
Last week Kompany had been forced to stay away due to a virus, returned to the bench on Wednesday against Arsenal (2‑2) admitting he had not listened to his body's signals. Yesterday, at the end of the first‑team training, he attended the reserve session led by former Brazilian international Dante, when the illness occurred.

The broadcast included segments of Pressing, Drive and reports on the Coppa Italia, Supercoppa Italiana and Champions League, as well as Lifestyle, Scudetti and Area columns. Eberl reiterated that the club is examining every aspect of the situation and that it will speak of weeks, not days, to clarify the causes of the illness. He emphasized that football is not the most important thing in life, but health is.
Bayern under pressure from Kompany's hospital admission ahead of Champions League
