Bayern's Kane eyes Ronaldo's Champions League record

The newly crowned Ballon d’Or Harry Kane is ready to turn the page after the missed penalty in the Klassiker against Borussia Dortmund and has his sights set on none other than Cristiano Ronaldo. The Englishman, in fact, will go hunting for his eleventh consecutive match with at least one goal scored in the Champions League in Tuesday evening’s game at Atletico Madrid.
At the moment, the ‘93 class is stuck at ten matches, one shy of the record set by Cristiano Ronaldo between 2017 and 2018 while wearing the Real Madrid shirt. It is the longest streak of consecutive goals in the competition’s history, with the Portuguese having been the only one to achieve it so far.
Now there could be a hook from Bayern’s striker. Kane is also ready to increase his haul of goals with the Bayern shirt: since 2023, when he arrived in Munich, the Brit has scored 37 goals in the Champions League in 41 appearances. Considering this period, Kane turns out to be the most prolific player in the top continental competition ahead of Real Madrid’s Kylian Mbappé (33 goals) and Manchester City’s Erling Braut Haaland (26 goals).
