Bayern Munich lock Michael Olise As Liverpool eye Anfield

Bayern Munich lock Michael Olise As Liverpool eye Anfield

Bayern Munich have signalled they will open contract talks with France international winger Michael Olise, offering a deal until 2032 and a release clause above €200 million, even as Liverpool have expressed interest in bringing the 24‑year‑old to Anfield, according to a report.

Bayern's contract push for Olise

The German club wants Olise to extend his career at the Allianz Arena and to become one of the highest‑paid players at Bayern. Christian Falk told CFBayern Insider that Bayern officials recently met Olise’s agent Glen Tweneboah in Munich to discuss how the player’s public image could be presented more effectively.

According to the same source, Bayern would like to seal a new contract that runs to 2032 and includes a release clause exceeding €200 million, a figure deemed realistic for the French winger.

Liverpool's pursuit and future options

While Liverpool signed Bradley Barcola from Paris Saint-Germain in the summer transfer window, the French star prefers to play on the left wing. The club had targeted Olise as a right‑wing replacement for Mohamed Salah in the summer of 2026, but no move materialised.

Farrell Keeling wrote on September 4 that “It won’t have escaped anyone’s notice that Andoni Iraola’s men failed to sign a natural right‑sided winger. Victor Munoz looks well‑suited to the position, but the likes of Rio Ngumoha, Cody Gakpo and new boy Barcola are all naturally predisposed to playing on the left flank.” He added, “There’s an argument to be made that this may not particularly matter, given that Iraola will commit to rotating his options on either side to build familiarity. But Liverpool would no doubt be open to the prospect of adding a player of Olise’s calibre if it meant fixing their right side for the foreseeable future.”

Later, a September 30 report said “Premier League heavyweights Liverpool are also searching for a left‑footed winger capable of operating on the right, with Olise emerging as one of their major targets.” Graeme Bailey of TEAMtalk reported that Olise does not fancy a return to the Premier League anytime soon and that, should he leave Bayern, his preference would be a move to Spain, with Real Madrid and Barcelona already aware of his situation.

TEAMtalk’s insider also noted that Liverpool, Arsenal and Manchester City made enquiries about Olise in the summer transfer window, but the 24‑year‑old remained at Bayern.

For Bayern, securing Olise with a long‑term deal and a hefty release clause protects the club’s investment while giving the player a defined route out. For Liverpool, the continued interest underscores the need to find a suitable right‑wing solution as they look beyond Barcola’s left‑wing role.
