Bayern München considers €200 million buyout clause for Michael Olise

Bayern München considers €200 million buyout clause for Michael Olise

In the meeting room of the Allianz Arena, an extraordinary contract proposal is being discussed: Bayern Munich is considering a buyout clause of €200 million for the French winger Michael Olise. The plan would deviate from the usual approach of the German record champion, which normally retains full control over future transfers.

Extraordinary clause for Olise

According to journalist Christian Falk, the club of Vincent Kompany is investigating whether they can include such a clause in Olise's new contract. The desired €200 million would deter potential buyers, without completely shutting the player out. Bayern wants to send a clear signal that Olise remains a cornerstone of the team.

Olise, who currently earns about €14 million per season, would receive a substantial wage increase, but would remain below the salary of Harry Kane, who is estimated to receive nearly €25 million per year. The club wants to improve the terms without placing Olise in the salary category of the English striker.

Strategic considerations

The German top club may thus be deviating from its established line in contract negotiations, where it normally negotiates directly with interested clubs. A €200 million clause would even pose major challenges for the richest clubs in the transfer summer.

Real Madrid and Liverpool are also on Olise's radar. Last summer Real Madrid would have wanted to pay €150 million, but Bayern considered that amount insufficient. Olise's entourage wants a release clause in the new contract, while the club seeks a delicate balance between offering perspective and retaining control.

Olise has performed strongly this season, including in the Nations League where he scored three goals in two matches against Belgium as a substitute. His form confirms the importance of the Frenchman for the Bavarian side under Kompany. Although, concrete talks have not yet begun, the question remains whether Bayern will actually accept the requested clause. For Vincent Kompany, retaining Olise is a logical priority, and the club is working on a contract proposal up to 2032.
